The BSV Sachsen Zwickau women's handball team got off to a false start after the break due to the European Championship. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges conceded a clear 29:39 (14:17) home defeat against HSG Bensheim/Auerbach.
The outstanding Nina Engel (12 goals), Kim Naidzinavicius (6/1) and Sarah Dekker (5) played the biggest part in the visitors' success. Arwen Gorb (7), Laura Szabo and Blanka Klajdon (6/3 each) scored the most goals for the Saxons.
The fourth defeat of the season meant that Zwickau had to let their opponents slip past them in the table and dropped to eighth place.
The hosts were only 2:0 ahead in the early stages (2nd minute), but then completely lost the thread of their game. BSV fought its way back to 12:13 (23') after trailing 6:10 (16'), but nine technical turnovers alone meant it trailed by three goals at the break.
After the break, Zwickau completely collapsed. Auerbach pulled away from 20:14 (34') and 27:17 (42') to 31:18 (47').
