The Niners Chemnitz basketball team missed out on a possible seventh win of the season in the German league. The club from Saxony lost its game on the road at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg by 65:69 (35:34) and so had to let the eighth-placed club pass it in the table.
Hunter Maldonado (16 points), Ezra Manjon, Joel Scott (12 each) and Yorman Polas Bartolo (11) played the biggest part in the home side's success. Only Olivier Nkamhoua (18) and Victor Bailey Jr. (17) and DeAndre Lansdowne (11) scored in double digits for Chemnitz.
Too many offensive rebounds for Ludwigsburg
The visitors got off to a perfect start and stretched their 15:14 lead after the first quarter to 30:19 (16) by the 15th minute. However, Ludwigsburg fought its way back to within one point by the break and turned the game around after the break with a 19:3 run to make it 53:38 in the 28th minute.
However, the Niners did not give up and even went back in front by 57:55 in the 35th minute. Ludwigsburg then produced another spurt to make it 67:60 in the 38th minute to decide the encounter. Chemnitz scored slightly better from the floor in a game characterized by a lot of defending. However, the 21 turnovers and 24 offensive rebounds by Ludwigsburg cost the visitors victory in the end.
