RB Leipzig's sporting director Rouven Schröder has denied a premature departure of Liverpool loanee Fabio Carvalho. "These are typical power games that come up in the end," said the 48-year-old after the 2-1 defeat to Young Boys Bern in the Champions League. Carvalho played over 90 minutes for the first time this season in the game.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano had previously claimed on the internet platform X, formerly Twitter, that Liverpool FC had contacted Leipzig because they were unhappy with the 21-year-old's playing time. The plan is to bring the attacking midfielder back ahead of schedule in January. However, Schröder does not want to play along. "He will get more playing time. That's not an issue for us," said the sporting director.
The club are happy with Carvalho and want "the boy to bite". The Portuguese was loaned out by Leipzig in the summer after only making appearances in the first few weeks of his first season at Liverpool. He is set to take the next step in his development with the Saxons.
