The loan of German international Timo Werner to English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur is close to being finalized. According to media reports, the German international will undergo a medical check in England on Tuesday. The loan deal could then be sealed until the end of the season. Tottenham also have a purchase option in the contract.
"Timo wants match practice, which I can't guarantee him at the moment. He wants to go to the European Championships and maybe it will help us if he comes back in top condition," coach Marco Rose said on Sunday. "We're keeping our fingers crossed that he gets back on his feet and builds up his confidence."
Werner is obviously hoping that a potential transfer will give him more playing time and therefore a better chance of taking part in the European Championships at home this year. He has lost his regular place at Leipzig, never making the starting eleven in the Champions League and only twice in the Bundesliga.
