The Niners Chemnitz are running out of steam at the end of the basketball season. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore lost its home game in the German league against seventh-placed Rasta Vechta 83:91 (45:55) on Wednesday and so conceded its third defeat in a row. Kevin Yebo (23 points), Aher Uguak (14), DeAndre Lansdowne, Jeff Garrett (12 each) and Wesley van Beck (10) were the most successful for the club from Saxony. Tommy Kuhse (21), Joel Aminu (15), Ryan Schwieger, Wes Iwundu (13 each) and Johann Grünloh (10) played the biggest part in the visitors' victory.
The home side was only ahead until the 2nd minute (4:1). Vechta then pulled 4:6 (4th minute) and 7:14 (7th minute) ahead to 39:53 by the 19th minute. The visitors saved that lead over time, but also benefited from a total of 19 turnovers by Chemnitz.
The Niners were able to close the gap to 80:82 in the final minute, but Iwundu's three to make it 80:85 sealed the Fiba Europe Cup winners' eighth defeat of the season.
