Erzgebirge Aue had little offensive power to offer without top scorer Marcel Bär and lost at home to Waldhof Mannheim. The Saxons lost 0:1 (0:1) against the Kurpfälzer in the 3rd soccer league. Felix Lohkemper scored the winning goal for the visitors in the 38th minute. Aue remain tenth in the table, while Mannheim climbed up to 13th with their first away win in five months.
After the 4-1 defeat in Rostock, their first defeat after three wins, Aue started strongly with a double chance. First, Mika Clausen (23') failed to beat Jan-Christoph Bartels with a shot from the edge of the box, then the visitors' keeper prevented Kilian Jakob (24') from taking the lead when he volleyed the ball wide left.
Wrong goal on his birthday
Aue goalkeeper Martin Männel saved at the other end, picking out Arianit Ferati's (26) curling effort from the angle. Twelve minutes later, Männel was denied a goal on his birthday. After a cross, Steffen Nkansah deliberately let the ball through, Lohkemper lurked behind it and pushed the ball over the line.
Aue did far too little for the game after the break. Mannheim were more present, had more bite and also showed the better play. The hosts were disappointing in the second half. It was not until the 70th minute that Anthony Barylla scored again with a volley. After that, there was a brief rally, but nothing more.
