A master roofer advertises for trainees in the official gazette of the town of Sebnitz - with inhumane restrictions. The outrage is huge.

The Dresden Chamber of Crafts has distanced itself from the inhumane advertisement by a master roofer in the official gazette of the Saxon town of Sebnitz. As an organization for all upright and open-minded tradespeople, it opposes all forms of discrimination, a spokeswoman said in response to an inquiry. The industry has always developed positively in a climate of cosmopolitanism and diversity. "People of different origins and nationalities work here and keep our country running." The company in Sebnitz, whose boss has not yet been contacted, will be consulted regarding its suitability as a training company.

The Sebnitz master roofer held out the prospect of a training position, but excluded certain people as applicants. These were described using anti-Semitic, racist and discriminatory terms. The town council condemned the "advertisement with contemptuous and xenophobic content", which also sparked outrage across the region.

The city filed criminal charges against the author of the ad and the publisher, who apologized for the mistake and announced consequences. Saxony's Left Party called for a demonstration against racism on Easter Monday in the city, which is known for its tradition of artificial flowers and plans to host the "Day of the Saxons" in September.
