The Abitur examinations begin next week for 10,837 pupils at general secondary schools, colleges and evening grammar schools in Saxony. Minister of Education Conrad Clemens wished them strong nerves and every success. He also thanked the teachers: "The fact that Saxony's pupils regularly achieve top results in the Abitur examinations in a nationwide comparison is primarily due to the outstanding work of Saxony's teachers," emphasized the CDU politician.
The Abitur examinations start at the general grammar schools with the science subjects biology (2 April), physics (3 April) and chemistry (4 April). The examinations in mathematics will take place on April 17 and German on April 29. The dates for the oral exams are set by the schools themselves.
