There is a police operation at Leipzig University due to the disruption of an event on sex work. Student representatives are outraged.

Student representatives from Leipzig University have criticized a police operation for disrupting an event. It was incomprehensible that peacefully protesting students were subjected to repression and police measures, the Student Council explained in an open letter to the university management.

According to the police, around 60 people, some of them wearing masks, had entered a lecture hall on Tuesday evening. An association had held an event there on the topic of sex work. The protesters accused the association of being trans-hostile.

The police intervened because they disrupted the event and did not leave the room despite being asked to do so several times. According to their own statements, they began an investigation on suspicion of trespassing.

The student representatives classified the protest as legitimate and peaceful. At the same time, they criticized the association that had organized the event. They said it excluded trans people.
