Roland Kaiser has been giving concerts for half a century. The "Kaisermania" in Dresden is a cult event - he is now being given a special honor to mark his stage anniversary.

Singer Roland Kaiser has a double - made of wax. "It's incredible," said the 72-year-old hours before the start of this year's "Kaisermania" concert series in Dresden, when he saw the figure of himself made for the Madame Tussauds exhibition in Berlin for the first time. "A perfect double, you could say."

The figure is identical down to the hair and wrinkles, only the outfit is different: instead of the classic blue two-piece suit with a colorful handkerchief, the real Kaiser wears a combination of red trousers and a dark blue jacket at the press event - and is fascinated by his likeness.

The famous wax museum selected Kaiser, who will celebrate his 50th stage anniversary in 2024, for the illustrious international company of prominent artists already gathered there, including Taylor Swift and Helene Fischer. "It's an honor, no question about it," said Kaiser. His likeness will stand in the scaled-down replica of the "Kaisermania" set, with the famous Dresden Old Town backdrop and videos of his legendary shows - and will be on public display from this Saturday.

"This is high art"

Before the curtain was lifted, he timidly asked: "So, does he look like me?" His wife was startled, "because she thought you were already there", said the host of the event. Just minutes later, the singer was clearly enjoying the double emperor, standing behind his double and striking the same pose for the photographers.

He spent five hours sitting as a model for the Madame Tussauds specialists for the copy of himself, which was then produced in the London workshops of the famous wax museum. He had seen what "hard work" it was. "Perfection is a fine art," said Kaiser. Everything is right, down to the last detail, "even the wedding ring".
