It belongs to the premier league of boys' choirs in Germany. With performances all over the world, the Dresden Kreuzchor is an ambassador for the city of culture - even outside the church and concert hall.

The Dresdner Kreuzchor will premiere the "Requiem A" by Dresden composer Sven Helbig with the Sächsische Staatskapelle on February 9, 2025. The soloist is singer René Pape, also from Dresden and a former member of the Kreuzchor. According to the announcement, the work is "a powerful memorial of reconciliation" with a view to all victims of armed conflict and marks the beginning of the concerts to commemorate the destruction of the city 80 years ago at the end of the Second World War.

According to Kruz Cantor Martin Lehmann, Bach's St. John Passion for Easter will also be performed for the first time in twelve years in the 2024/2025 season under the motto "Im Wandel" (In Transition). The choir spans the gap between tradition and reorientation, is one of the city's most important musical representatives and "an excellent training institution for young musicians", said Mayor of Culture Annekatrin Klepsch (Left Party).

Tours and performances outside the Kreuzkirche

Tours are planned in Germany, Denmark, France and Switzerland. There will also be joint performances with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Isarphilharmonie in Munich with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem and works by Arvo Pärt, who celebrates his 90th birthday in 2025.

The local Kreuzchor Vespers will include works by earlier cantors such as Rudolf Mauersberger and Gottfried August Homilius. They also sing in the Dresden Heath, at the city festival in the main station dome hall, during Advent in the soccer stadium and in front of schoolchildren - including a performance of a "Christmas Oratorio for Children" together with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.
