Saturday is always the best attended day at the Leipzig Book Fair. Now so many tickets have been sold that the fair is pulling the ripcord. It's all about security.

The Leipzig Book Fair is limiting ticket sales for the first time due to high demand. The fair announced on LinkedIn and Instagram that there are only 5,000 tickets left for the traditionally busy Saturday. There are still 8,000 season tickets, which are also valid on Saturday.

The fair cited "a massive increase in ticket sales in recent days" as the reason for this. To ensure that a visit to the book fair remains safe and enjoyable for everyone, ticket sales will be limited. Those who are flexible should rather switch to Friday or Sunday.

The Leipzig Book Fair opens its doors to the public on Thursday. Publishers will be presenting their new releases in this book spring until Sunday. Last year, 283,000 visitors came to the fair and the associated festival "Leipzig liest".
