A nostalgic train from Hamburg to Leipzig is a reminder of the golden era of the railroad. However, the locomotive from the 1960s is unlikely to have traveled this route at the time of the division of Germany.

A nostalgic "Advent Express" has made its way from Neumünster via Hamburg to Leipzig. The destination of the special train is the Leipzig Christmas market, according to the Lübeck Historical Ice Railway Vehicles Association. The wagons are pulled by a dark blue E10 350 express locomotive from 1964. The 60-year-old locomotive has been lovingly restored and will shine in its original splendor for the anniversary, it said.

Among the likewise historic carriages are two party carriages in which drinks and snacks are offered. In its announcement, the association promised "a journey back to the golden era of the railroad". However, at the time of the division of Germany until 1989, there were only a few direct train connections across the border. The Advent Express departed from Hamburg Central Station a good half an hour late.
