A complaint against several FDP state lists caused a stir. The Liberals in Saxony were also affected. However, the state election committee has now given the green light.

The FDP can run in Saxony with its state list for the federal election on February 23. This was decided by the state election committee in Kamenz with eight votes in favor and one abstention, thereby rejecting a complaint regarding the drawing up of the state list.

In several federal states, there was a complaint against the drawing up procedures. A handwritten vote was objected to. This related to knowledge of the voting process at the state party conference in North Rhine-Westphalia, as Thomas Wolf, office manager of the state election director, said at the committee meeting. No specific facts were provided regarding the line-up in Saxony.

According to Wolf, the FDP provided detailed information on the voting procedure when asked. The secret ballot was therefore guaranteed. The state election management then considered the allegations to be unfounded. The majority of committee members agreed with this assessment.

As in 2017 and 2021, the Liberals' top candidate is Torsten Herbst. He has been in the Bundestag since 2017. The SPD put forward a total of 15 candidates in Saxony.
