In the wake of the farmers' protests and road traffic restrictions, there will be no lessons in some schools in Saxony on Monday. A spokesperson for the State Office for Schools and Education said that a few schools were affected. However, there had been no precise inquiry at the schools.

In the Erzgebirgskreis district in particular, where public transport and school transport were completely suspended on Monday, it can be assumed that more learning time was ordered at home, the spokesperson emphasized. However, emergency care for children - especially in elementary school - is guaranteed.

In response to farmers' protests, the federal government announced on Thursday that it would withdraw some of the planned subsidy cuts. The traffic light coalition wants to abandon the abolition of the motor vehicle tax exemption for agriculture. The aim is to avoid a considerable bureaucratic burden for the companies concerned. The abolition of tax concessions for agricultural diesel is to be spread out and implemented in several stages over the coming years. However, the German Farmers' Association considers the measures to be inadequate. The cuts to agricultural diesel should also be taken off the table.
