Third-division soccer club Erzgebirge Aue are still unable to halt their negative trend following the dismissal of coach Pavel Dotchev. The Saxons, currently coached by former assistant Jörg Emmerich, lost 0:1 (0:0) at FC Ingolstadt 04. Max Besuschkow (48 minutes) scored the winning goal for the Upper Bavarians, sealing the third defeat in a row for the Violets.
In front of 4,883 fans at Ingolstadt's Stadion am Sportpark, the home side dominated the early stages and had three promising chances to score in the first ten minutes. As the game progressed, Aue also got into the game better both offensively and defensively, although they often lacked the final touch.
Shortly after the break, Omar Sijaric then had the chance to give FCE the lead, but headed a cross onto the crossbar. FCI did better two minutes later and took the lead. The fact that Aue's defense looked more stable overall after conceding eight goals in two games did little to help. In the final phase, the team around striker Marcel Bär rebelled once again, but it was no longer enough for the equalizer.
