Erzgebirge Aue have achieved an important success in the relegation battle in the 3rd Football League. After two recent defeats, they beat Borussia Dortmund II 2:1 (1:1) to climb to twelfth place in the table. Borys Tashchy put Aue ahead in front of 10,495 spectators in the 17th minute, before Paul-Philiipp Besong (29) equalized. Mika Clausen (54) then scored to make it 2-1.
In the duel between the teams level on points, Aue, who had recently suffered two defeats in Saarbrücken and Essen, had slight teething problems. But things suddenly got going. Anthony Baryllas (10) tested visiting keeper Silas Ostrzinski with a deflected shot, who deflected the ball over the crossbar. The Borussia goalkeeper was then powerless against Tashchy's follow-up shot (17') after he had saved Ali Loune's shot from a half-right position seconds earlier. Aue could even have gone one better through Tashchy (27), but his header struck the aluminum.
Dortmund's reserves were slow to recover from the goal, but then combined with a lot of pace. That was rewarded: Besong (29) finished from a good position in the penalty area to equalize at 1:1. After the changeover, the Saxons took the lead again thanks to Clausen (54), who hit a dream shot straight into the corner from the edge of the box. The visitors remained dangerous with their counter-attacks, but Aue defended everything away.
