FC Erzgebirge Aue ended their winless streak and gave coach Jens Härtel his first success on the sidelines of the Saxon third-division soccer club. The home side celebrated a painstaking 1-0 (1-0) home win against bottom-of-the-table SpVgg Unterhaching and cemented their place in mid-table.
Härtel had gone winless in his first five games as Aue coach. Marvin Stefaniak (38th minute) scored the only goal of the day in front of 7,141 spectators, his first since November.
Many chances, few goals
The home side got into the game better and better as the match progressed and created promising chances. After the visitors managed to clear Marcel Bär's header on the empty goal at the last second, Bayern had no chance with Stefaniak's shot. The lead at the break was well deserved. Aue were the more active team, with the visitors only threatening to score at the start.
The hosts remained the dominant team, but missed an early decision. At times, Aue almost played themselves into the opposing defense, at other times their finishing was too imprecise. In the final phase, the Saxons pulled back and successfully saved the narrow lead over time.
