The cup defeat in the first compulsory match of the season is dampening the mood at VfL Bochum. That's why new coach Peter Zeidler is trying to spread confidence ahead of the tough game in Leipzig.

The Bochum soccer coach Peter Zeidler is hoping for a quick reaction of defiance from his team after their early exit from the DFB Cup. "Of course the disappointment was huge. But it's over, it's done," he said, referring to the 0:1 last weekend in Regensburg, where the Revierclub was the only Bundesliga team to bow out of the competition in the first round.

However, he is confident about the challenging task ahead of the Bundesliga opener at top team RB Leipzig on Saturday (3.30 pm/Sky): "The next opponent will be a different caliber than last time out in the DFB Cup. But we have a chance and believe that we can do something about it."

However, as in Regensburg, the 62-year-old will be without the injured players Bernado, Ivan Ordets, Moritz-Broni Kwarteng, Mohammed Tolba and the suspended Dani de Wit. This is one of the reasons why defender Jakov Medić, who was only loaned from Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday, will be part of the squad on Saturday, according to Zeidler. However, the coach left it open as to whether the Croatian will start.
