Dresden have little trouble against VfB Stuttgart's reserves. After taking an early lead, Dynamo played in the style of a top team. However, they lacked any real sparkle when outnumbered.

Dynamo Dresden are back on the road to success. One week after the 2-0 defeat in the Saxony derby against Aue, SGD defeated VfB Stuttgart II 2-0 (1-0) today. Christoph Daferner (15th minute) scored the early lead, Tony Menzel (72nd) added to it midway through the second half. Stuttgart's Samuele Di Benedetto was shown a yellow card in the meantime (55'). The game at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion was watched by 27,205 spectators.

The home side started cautiously, leaving the action to the visitors for the time being. The second team of the German runners-up were certainly keen to play. However, Vinko Sapina took advantage of a loss of possession in midfield. The new signing served Daferner perfectly. The striker showed nerves of steel to beat VfB goalkeeper Dennis Seimen. Afterwards, SGD acted in the style of a top team, hardly allowing the Swabians to develop. Both Niklas Hauptmann (19') and Sapina (31') could have extended the lead. Nevertheless, the superior hosts went into the break with a very narrow 1-0 lead.

After repeated fouls, Stuttgart's Di Benedetto was sent off in the 55th minute. It took Dresden until the 72nd minute to take advantage of their superior numbers. The outstanding Sapina found Menzel with a cross, and the Dresden-born player headed home. The home win moved the Saxons up to third place in the table.
