The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau have suffered their heaviest defeat of the season so far. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges lost their game at second-placed HB Ludwigsburg by a clear 18:39 (9:16), but remain in eighth place. Xenia Smits and Mareike Thomeier played the biggest part in the hosts' success with five goals each. Marloes Hoitzing (3) and Laura Szabo (3/1) scored the most goals for the team from Saxony.
The Zwickau side were only able to hold their own against the favorites in the opening quarter of an hour. After that, however, the visitors made too many technical mistakes, allowing Ludwigsburg to pull away with an 8:2 run. That broke the resistance of the BSV players, who completely fell apart after the restart. The champions were ahead by 20 goals for the first time at 34:14 (51'). BSV could thank its strong goalkeeper Barbara Gyori (15 saves) that the defeat was not even worse.
