Hertha BSC will host league rivals Hamburger SV in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup on December 6. The clash between the second-division soccer clubs will kick off at 8.45pm (Sky) on Wednesday at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, as announced by the German Football Association on Wednesday. One day earlier, 1. FC Magdeburg will play at home against Fortuna Düsseldorf (18:00/Sky). The draw for the round had already been made on Sunday and the specific dates have now been set.
Hertha BSC and 1. FC Magdeburg are the only remaining teams from the North-East German Football Association (NOFV) in the current DFB Cup round. Bundesliga clubs RB Leipzig and 1. FC Union Berlin were eliminated in the second round after losing at VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart, as were second-division side Hansa Rostock at 1. FC Nürnberg. The final will take place on May 25, 2024 in Berlin's Olympic Stadium.
