After 15 games without a win, 1. FC Magdeburg can celebrate at home again. And against league leaders Cologne of all teams.

After overcoming their home woes, 1. FC Magdeburg are now in the thick of the promotion race. The joy of the 3-0 win against 1. FC Köln was mixed with relief for coach Christian Titz's team. "We're all the more pleased that we didn't go past the one year mark. We're all pretty happy now," said goalscorer Daniel Heber. Magdeburg narrowly avoided going more than a year without a win at home.

"We haven't achieved anything yet. We'll see what else is possible. We have quality. And we're pleased that we're bringing it onto the pitch quite well," emphasized Heber. He hoped for two days off after the first home win in 51 weeks and 15 games without a win.

Scorer Heber: "We're not dreaming"

This pushed FCM to within two points of Cologne in the Bundesliga 2 table and, for the time being, they are equal third on points behind Hamburger SV. Coach Christian Titz is not saying a word about promotion to the first division anyway. Heber is more courageous. "We are all footballers. Of course you look at the table, but we don't dream. We know where we come from. That's not a big issue for us because we're looking at our game, we all want to improve. We'll see what comes out of it in the end."
