The volleyball players from SSC Palmberg Schwerin have won their first championship match point in the play-off final against Dresdner SC. After the 3-0 opening win, the players of coach Felix Koslowski also won the second game in the Saxon state capital 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-15) and thus lead the "best-of-five" series 2-0. Dresden would now have to win three games in a row to be able to celebrate the title after all.
The next clash between the two top German teams will take place on Saturday (17:15/Sport1) in Schwerin's Palmberg Arena. With a third win, the SSC volleyball players could lift the championship trophy for the first time since 2018.
Sold-out hall in Dresden
In Dresden, the visitors dictated the game from the outset in front of 3,000 spectators and thus a sold-out house with powerful tasks, variable attacks and a compact reception and defense.
The DSC players, whose captain and setter Sarah Straube started the match weakened by an infection, did not make enough use of their chances in attack. Although the team from the city on the Elbe tried to counter with fighting spirit and morale, Schwerin proved to be more stable and fresher in all respects in the second game as well.
