The revenge is off. Schwerin's volleyball players will not face defending champions Stuttgart in the final series for the German championship. Their opponents are Dresdner SC.

The volleyball players of German record champions SSC Schwerin and their coach look at their opponents in the play-off final series for the championship with great respect. Dresdner SC prevailed 3:1 in the third and deciding match of the semi-final round at defending champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart on Thursday evening.

"That was absolutely deserved," said Schwerin's head coach Felix Koslowski. Koslowski was even more impressed by the victory of the German Cup winners from Dresden in the second semi-final match.

The team of coach Alexander Waibl had lost the first game against Stuttgart, trailed 0:2 in sets in the second game in their own hall and fell behind 4:10 in the third. Nevertheless, the team from Saxony were jubilant in the end. "With the mentality that Dresden showed - highest respect, all respect," said Koslowski about the comeback.

Final opponents qualified for the Champions League

The final series begins on Saturday (6.30 p.m.) in Schwerin. A maximum of five games are possible. A decisive fifth game on May 3 would take place in Schwerin. The women from Mecklenburg were last champions seven years ago. Schwerin have the advantage that they only needed two games (3:0 and 3:1) in the semi-final against VfB Suhl and were therefore able to save energy.

Notwithstanding the outcome of the final series, one thing is certain: Because Dresden won the cup competition, the two clubs will meet again next season in the Supercup. SSC and DSC have also qualified for the Champions League.
