German cup winners Dresdner SC can continue to dream of the championship title. The team from the city on the Elbe left nothing to be desired against Wiesbaden. Now a tough opponent awaits.

The Dresden SC volleyball players have reached the play-off semi-finals for the German championship. The team of coach Alexander Waibl defeated VC Wiesbaden 3:1 (23:25, 25:16, 25:19, 25:19) in the second quarter-final match and thus celebrated its second victory in the best-of-three series. Last Saturday, the DSC ladies had already won the opening match 3:1 at home. Their opponents in the round of the best four teams will now be defending champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart.

The German cup winners struggled to get into the match in the first set in front of 1,276 spectators against the focused and determined hosts. Dresden's reception was shaky, they lacked a bit of pressure on the serve and made slight mistakes.

From the second set onwards, however, the tide turned in favour of the third-placed team in the preliminary round, who improved in all elements. The substitution of Stamatia Kyparissi also brought more energy and stability. Nevertheless, the Hessians put up resistance until the end, repeatedly forcing the favorites into long, hard-fought rallies. In the end, the team from the city on the Elbe prevailed thanks to their higher individual and team quality and celebrated reaching the semi-finals after 97 minutes.
