Beijing Olympic champion Laura Nolte wins the two-man bobsleigh World Cup in Altenberg despite three previous falls. Delighted about push athlete Deborah Levi's comeback.

Unimpressed by her three previous crashes, Beijing Olympic champion Laura Nolte also won the two-man bobsleigh World Cup in Altenberg. After her success in the monobob, the Winterberg native was all the more delighted this time as her Olympic pusher Deborah Levi from Potsdam made her comeback after a long injury break. With two best times at the start and in the run, the duo relegated world champion Kim Kalicki to second place by 0.64 seconds on Sunday. The Wiesbaden native raced with Anabel Galander from Magdeburg. Romania's Andreea Grecu came third.

"It was a super weekend, the runs were really good and the start times today were mega. Everything is going in the right direction," said Nolte after her fourth win of the season in the two-man bobsleigh. Defending champion Kalicki was already looking ahead to Winterberg, where the World Championships start on Monday: "My runs were a bit poor today. The body now has to be prepared for the World Championships, but I think I can go far forward."

Lisa Buckwitz (BRC Thüringen), who was still in third place after run one, crashed in the final run with Winterberg's Lauryn Siebert, but was able to leave the sled safe and sound with injuries and bruises. In addition to Buckwitz, co-favorite Elana Meyers Taylor from the USA also crashed in the first run, while Viktoria Cernanska from Slovakia suffered a crash in the second run. There were no serious injuries to the athletes at first glance.
