While RB Leipzig's sporting director Marcel Schäfer continues to work on the signings of Ridle Baku and Noah Okafor, one personnel matter is already fixed. The loan of Yannick Eduardo will be changed. The 18-year-old center forward, who has a contract with the Bundesliga club until June 30, 2027, will be loaned to Dutch second division club FC Emmen with immediate effect, RB announced. The loan to Dutch second-division club De Graafschap Doetinchem, for whom the former U19 player had been playing since last summer, ends at the same time.
Schäfer is also working on the signings of Wolfsburg's Baku and Okafor from AC Milan. Swiss striker Okafor, who only moved to Milan from FC Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2023, would be an alternative in the RB attack, as André Silva is set to leave the club. He should also improve the competitive situation in attack, where Benjamin Sesko and Loïs Openda, who are set to play, had major performance fluctuations last November.
New attempt at Baku
RB also want to leave no stone unturned with defender Baku. The 26-year-old is said to be a replacement for injured international Benjamin Henrichs (Achilles tendon rupture) on the right flank. Both clubs are said to be in talks, although the transfer fee is still being discussed. As Baku's contract expires in the summer anyway and he would then be available on a free transfer, Leipzig are hoping for a concession from Wolfsburg's former coach Ralph Hasenhüttl. However, the VfL head coach is demanding a replacement.
