Martin Männel is entering his 18th season at Erzgebirge Aue. The 37-year-old goalkeeper of the third-division soccer club has extended his contract with the Erzgebirge for a further season until the end of 2025/2026, as the club announced. "I feel fit. And as long as I can make a contribution, I'll do it with passion. I still can't imagine my life without soccer," Männel was quoted as saying in a press release.
The Hennigsdorf native has been in goal for Aue since 2008 and currently has 556 competitive matches to his name. This makes the 1.83-meter goalkeeper by far the Saxons' record player.
