Marco Rose does not see the announced retirement of his counterpart Thomas Tuchel as decisive. Instead, the RB Leipzig coach wants to mentally crack Bayern in the top match.

Marco Rose does not believe that Thomas Tuchel's announced departure at the end of the season will have a serious impact on his Leipzig side's clash with Bayern Munich. "These are guys who have learned to be winners over the years," said the RB Leipzig coach. "They've all won the Champions League, have been German champions umpteen times and are currently struggling with a situation they don't want. And they will do everything they can to do better."

Leipzig, currently fifth, face second-placed Bayern on Saturday (18:30/Sky) in the top match of the Bundesliga. Munich have lost three in a row in all competitions and are eight points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Rose, the consequences of the decision to part ways with Tuchel on Wednesday are not yet foreseeable. "Of course, we've noticed that Bayern don't let everything go so easily. Then you make decisions to improve things. Sometimes it gets better, sometimes not," said the 47-year-old.

He does not see any parallels with his own situation in spring 2021, when he announced his move to Dortmund as Mönchengladbach coach. "We didn't lose games because the coach said he was doing something new," said Rose. "It can also happen after a contract extension that you suddenly stop losing games. At the moment, Bayern's self-image is suffering a little. Nevertheless, it is and remains difficult to win in Munich."

Rose cited the home statistics of the record champions, who have nine wins and one defeat from eleven home games. "They're struggling at the moment. And you can perhaps remind them more quickly here and there that things are difficult for them," said Rose. Sometimes one action is enough to bring the ease back: "It doesn't help to put your hand up, it doesn't help to sit in a circle. In the end, Bayern have to work themselves out of it."
