The fans of Red Star Belgrade are considered to be hot-blooded. For the game of the Serbs in Leipzig, the police gets support from other federal states.

For the Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade, security measures in Leipzig will be expanded. The measures are "basically increased," a police spokeswoman confirmed to dpa on Tuesday. Forces from Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will support the Leipzig police and the Saxon riot police. In addition to the Reiterstaffel will also be a helicopter in use.

On major access roads, there will be checkpoints. The 13-time Serbian soccer champion has just over 2,000 tickets available for Wednesday's match (9 p.m./DAZN) against RB Leipzig.

"The guest block was sold out within a few hours. And I assume that some of our supporters who live in Germany have bought tickets. In any case, we will not lack support in Leipzig," Marko Marin told the "Leipziger Volkszeitung". The former international has been technical director of the 1991 national championship winners since April.

Sport-wise, Marin expects a different game than what they are used to back home. There, he said, they usually have up to 70 percent possession and are dominant. "That is of course completely different in the Champions League against Manchester City or also in Leipzig. We know what to expect, we have to deal with the difference between the domestic league and international games in every situation," said the 34-year-old. Realistic goal, he said, is to reach third place in the group and thus continue in the Europa League in the spring.

The favorite role sees Marin on Wednesday clearly with Leipzig. "But we can also play soccer, want to show what we can do on the very big stage with passion and quality," said the former Bundesliga professional. They hadn't played in the Champions League for three years, he said, and now the club and city are super happy to be back.
