RB Leipzig extends contract with goalkeeper Gulacsi until 2026

RB Leipzig has settled the goalkeeper issue for next season. On Monday, Hungarian Peter Gulacsi signed a new contract until the end of June 2026. His previous contract would have expired next year. "In our squad planning, clarity in the goalkeeper position was one of the key decisions we wanted to make before the European Championships. We have now made this decision with the contract extension of Peter Gulacsi and discussed it clearly and transparently with everyone involved," said RB sporting director Rouven Schröder.

Gulacsi has been at the club since 2015 and has played 302 competitive matches to date. "The contract extension was my great wish. The path that the club and I have been on together since 2015 is a very special one. I've celebrated great successes with RB Leipzig, such as the DFB Cup victories and winning the Super Cup, but I've always felt the support of the club and the people here, even in more difficult times. These moments were extraordinary," said the 34-year-old, who is a group opponent of the German team at the European Championship with the Hungarian national team.

With Gulacsi's continued commitment, it is also clear that Janis Blaswich can and will leave the club. For the future, RB has already signed the young Belgian Maarten Vandevoordt, who will move from RC Genk to Leipzig in the summer. Blaswich had deputized for Gulacsi during his lengthy cruciate ligament injury until February and made it into national coach Julian Nagelsmann's squad with strong performances.
