The Thuringian handball team struggled to get back into the Bundesliga, but nevertheless won the duel against Blomberg-Lippe.

The handball players of Thüringer HC have bounced back with a win in the German league. In the first game after the European Championship break, the team of Head Coach Herbert Müller defeated HSG Blomberg-Lippe 23:21 (12:9). In front of 1,624 spectators, Johanna Reichert scored five goals to become the best scorer for THC, who overtook Blomberg in the table and are now third on 12:4 points.

Both teams initially found it very difficult in attack. While the visitors lacked precision in finishing, the Thuringians repeatedly failed to score against Blomberg's brilliant goalkeeper Melanie Veith, who had already made seven saves by the middle of the first half. The score was only 4:4 after 15 minutes, after which Müller provided fresh impetus with personnel changes at the back. The home side promptly developed more pace and penetration. They pulled 11:7 ahead in the 27th minute with a 5:1 run.

After the break, goalkeeper Dinah Eckerle also got stronger and stronger and the THC extended its lead to 18:12 (42 minutes). However, the home side's flow of play slowed noticeably after that. Blomberg continued to make mistakes, but was able to close the gap to 18:20 by the 58th minute, before Anna Szabo ended a nine-minute drought for the home side with her goal to make it 21:18. After that, the victory was no longer in danger.
