The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau are coming under increasing pressure in their fight against relegation. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges lost a clear 24:34 (12:18) at sixth-placed TuS Metzingen and thus remain second-last. Zwickau's new signing Déborah Kpodar celebrated an outstanding debut with nine goals.
The 30-year-old Frenchwoman moved to the German handball league from Hungarian first-division club Dunaujvarosi KKA. Kaho Nakayama (4) came closest to her. Lois van Vliet and Jana Scheib (8 each)
The players from Zwickau missed the opening spell and needed five minutes to score their first goal. Metzingen pulled away from 4:1 (5') and 8:2 (9') to 13:4 by the 17th minute. The visitors were able to reduce the gap to six goals by the break and remained halfway in contention until 20:26 (47'). The home side finally decided the game in its favor with a 4:0 run to 30:20 (52'). Zwickau conceded too many turnovers in attack to put their opponents in serious trouble again.
