The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau have suffered their 15th defeat of the season in the Bundesliga. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges lost the basement derby at third-bottom Buxtehuder SV 29:30 (12:16) and remain second-last after their eighth game in a row without a win. Their last win came on January 29 against TSV Bayer Leverkusen (27:26).
Anika Hampel (8/6), who converted the decisive seven-meter penalty in the final minute to make it 30:28, and Levke Kretschmann (7) played the biggest part in the hosts' success. For Zwickau, Blanka Klajdon (9/3), Kaho Nakayama (7) and Arwen Gorb (6) scored 22 of the team from Saxony's 29 goals.
The visitors got off to the better start and were 6:4 in front after twelve minutes. However, Buxtehude produced a 4:0 run to make it 8:6 (18') and stretched that lead to four goals by the break. However, the Zwickau players did not give up, tied the scores at 20:20 (40') and were even 26:25 ahead with eight minutes remaining. However, the visitors' nerves played tricks on them in the final phase. Buxtehude managed to turn the game around thanks to better decisions in the decisive phase of the encounter.
