The losing streak of the basketball Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC continues unabated. The club from Weißenfels lost the important basement duel at Merlins Crailsheim by 76:87 and conceded its fourth defeat in a row. Instead of gaining some breathing space in the relegation battle, the MBC is now just one win ahead of the red zone.
"The Merlins drained some tough shots in the third quarter and fought their way into the lead. After that, we didn't find our way back into the game, although we fought to the end," said Head Coach Predrag Krunic. Although the MBC won the opening quarter, it then collapsed completely and produced what was probably its weakest performance of the season so far. As a result, it lost the third quarter by 15:31. The win in the final quarter was merely cosmetic.
Former Weissenfels player Tremmell Darden came on for Crailsheim and set an age record in the German league since digital data recording began in 1998. The American was 42 years and 20 days old on Saturday evening, replacing the previous record holder Derrick Taylor. He was 41 years, seven months and three days old in 2005.
