The basketball players of the Niners Chemnitz have celebrated their first away victory this season. The charges of coach Rodrigo Pastore kept the upper hand on Sunday at the Basketball Lions Braunschweig with 86:81 (46:37) and inflicted the first defeat of the season on the previously unbeaten Lower Saxons. Kaza-Kajami-Keane (23), Kevin Yebo (19), De André Lansdowne (13) and Aher Uguak (12) played the biggest part in the guests' success. For the Brunswickers Nicholas Tischler (18), T.J. Crockett (17), Jilson Bango (13), Ferdinand Zylka and Barra Njie (11 each) scored the most points.
The Saxons laid the foundation for success already in the first quarter with a 20-0 run from 0:4 (2nd) to 20:4 (6th) and extended this lead to 39:19 (14th). But the comfortable cushion lasted only eleven minutes. Chemnitz fell behind 49:51 (25th) and despite leading 73:62 in the meantime (33rd), trailed 80:81 in the final minute. With his second successful three-pointer to 83:81, Lansdowne set the course for victory 37 seconds before the final whistle. The Saxons did not allow Braunschweig to score another point after that.
