The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has won its third encounter in the play-off quarter-finals of the German championship. The charges of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore got the better of Rasta Vechta by 84:76 (46:41) on Tuesday and are 2:1 ahead after three games. The Niners can seal their place in the semi-finals with a win in Vechta on Thursday (6:30 p.m.).
Wesley van Beck (20), Kaza Kajami-Keane (12), Jeff Garrett (11), Aher Uguak and Kevin Yebo (10 each) played the biggest part in Chemnitz's success. Only Joel Aminu (26) and Spencer Reaves (21) scored in double figures for the home side.
However, the Niners had major problems at the start. The home side was 22:11 ahead after nine minutes. Chemnitz then stepped up its intensity in defense and sparked the turnaround with a 20:7 run to make it 50:41 in the 22nd minute. After that, the home side was not able to take the lead again.
The better three-point field goal percentage and the lower number of turnovers (18 for Vechta, 12 for the visitors) led the Niners to success. Eleven of Chemnitz' 25 attempts landed in Vechta's basket. The visitors were only able to convert nine of their 28 shots from distance.
