Under the title "Four women. Four CVs", the Chemnitz Art Collections are dedicating a new exhibition to female photography in the GDR. It presents the life and work of the photographers Christine Stephan-Brosch, Evelyn Krull, Gerdi Sippel and May Voigt. According to the information provided, the show includes around 80 photographs taken up to 1989. They come from the museum's own collection or are on loan from the photographers themselves. The exhibition organizers speak of an "often neglected chapter in the history of photography", which is addressed in the show. The works provide a glimpse into a bygone era, explained curator Johanna Gerling in a statement.
The exhibition will open on Saturday evening and will be on display in the exhibition rooms on Theaterplatz from Sunday until 9 June.
