Number of guest students at universities declining

The number of guest students at universities in Saxony has fallen for the first time in three years. According to the State Statistical Office, the universities reported a total of 828 guest students for the winter semester 2024/2025. This was almost ten percent fewer than in the previous year. Previously, there had been a regular increase since the end of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the level from the 2019/2020 winter semester, when 1,347 guest students were recorded at the universities, has not been reached since then. According to the data, the oldest guest student was 88 years old and the youngest guest student was 15 years old.
