In the third attempt, the handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig managed the first victory in the new Bundesliga season. The team of coach Runar Sigtryggsson defeated on Sunday afternoon the last in the table HSG Wetzlar deserved 36:30 (18:13). Before 3674 spectators were Moritz Preuss and returnee Franz Semper with seven goals each the best throwers of the SC DHfK.
The Leipzigers found only sluggishly into the game and had to cope with a red card for their goalkeeper Domenico Ebner at the score of 6:6 (12th minute). However, Kristian Saeveras, who replaced him, then became the initiator of Leipzig's best phase in the first half. He immediately defended a seven-meter shot and made five more saves before the break. Thus the hosts, who received now also increased the chance to speed counterattacks, set themselves off to the 25. minute on 14:9.
Also at the beginning of the second passage the SC DHfK determined the play, lost between the 40. and 51. minute then however in the offensive completely the thread. The Leipzigers only managed one goal in this period, so that the struggling guests were able to reduce the score to 25:26. The hosts did not let themselves be impressed by it however lastingly, increased in the final phase the intensity in the defense and forced with three goals within 110 seconds to 31:27 (57.) the preliminary decision.
