The coaches of the Central German basketball league teams do not trust Ulm to repeat its surprising championship. "Top favorites are the two Euro League teams Alba Berlin and Bayern Munich. Bayern have really stepped on the gas with their commitments. They are hungry to bring the title back to Munich," Predrag Krunic, coach of Syntainics MBC, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur. The coach of the Niners Chemnitz, Rodrigo Pastore, also sees Munich and Berlin as "very hot title candidates."
However, Pastore also trusts an outsider. "Last season, when Ulm and Bonn were in the final, showed that other teams can also make it to the top," the Argentine said. "However, at this stage, before the start of the new season, it is hard to estimate who could slip into such a role."
Ulm had beaten Bonn 3-1 in the final series last season. In the quarterfinals, the champions had knocked out Alba Berlin by the same score before a clear 3-0 win over the Bavarians a round later.
