The Handball-Bundesligist SC DHfK Leipzig must do without Moritz Preuss until the end of the year. The 28-year-old circle runner tore a ligament at the carpal bones and will be operated on Thursday in Leipzig. The club announced on Monday. "I already suffered the injury in the game against Kiel and actually wanted to have my hand operated on during the winter break," Preuss said. However, further examinations had shown that a prompt surgery was without alternative. Leipzig won 35:34 against Kiel on October 14.
In addition to Preuss, Leipzig must already do without the national players Simon Ernst and Luca Witzke. Playmaker Witzke, who is missing with a muscle injury in his thigh, has been completing his rehab in Munich since this week in order to be able to participate in the national team training course despite the injury. Ernst is missing because of a muscular injury in the pelvic area.
