Standing goalkeeper Tim Schreiber from third-division soccer club 1. FC Saarbrücken will return to RB Leipzig in the summer after a one-year loan. The club will present a successor in the near future, the FCS announced on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Schreiber particularly caught the eye in the DFB Cup with victories over second division side Karlsruher SC (2:1) and Bundesliga clubs Bayern Munich (2:1), Eintracht Frankfurt (2:0) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (2:1). It was only in the semi-final against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (0:2) that FCS reached the end of the line when Schreiber scored a 0:1 goal.

"Tim got the playing time with us that is necessary for a young goalkeeper. He has shown his potential and continued to develop with us," praised Saarbrücken coach and manager Rüdiger Ziehl.
