The handball players of SV Union Halle-Neustadt have dropped two important points in the battle to stay in the league. Coach Till Wiechers' charges lost their home game against Buxtehuder SV on Sunday by an unfortunate 30:31 (16:15) and missed out on a move into a secure mid-table position with their sixth defeat of the season. Charlotte Kähr (8), Maj Rika Nielsen (6/3), Teresa von Prittwitz and Sinah Hagen (4 each) played the biggest part in the visitors' success. Alexandra Lundstrom (8/5), Cara Reuthal (5), Lilli Röpcke and Helena Mikkelsen (4 each) scored the most goals for Halle.
The home side got off to a furious start and were 5:1 ahead after five minutes. However, Buxtehude tied the scores at 5:5 just six minutes later. Neither team was able to pull away decisively after that. After the break, the visitors from Halle took a 21:19 lead (39'). However, Buxtehude turned the tide with a 4:1 run to make it 23:22 (46'). SV Union was no longer in the lead in the final quarter of an hour and trailed by a decisive 28:31 with one minute remaining.
