The voice of Florian David Fitz plays a leading role in a new short film for children: the 20-minute film "Die Reise zur Traumsandmühle" (The Journey to the Dream Sand Mill) has been created to mark the 65th birthday of the Sandman from children's television. Florian David Fitz lends his voice to the narrator, rbb announced. The broadcaster produced the film together with MDR and NDR.
In it, the Sandman travels through the country in a multimobile. His destination: the playground of a high-rise housing estate. As always, he has his bag of dream sand in his luggage. But when he gets out of his vehicle, a mishap occurs: the bag tears and the dream sand trickles out and blows away - except for a single grain of sand. This helps the sandman to find the right path to the dream sand mill. This is where the special sand is produced, which gives the children beautiful dreams.
The Sandman is Germany's longest-serving character in children's television. On November 22, 1959, he sprinkled his dream sand for the first time on GDR television at 6.55 pm. The daily program "Abendgruß" has been a fixed bedtime ritual for many children ever since. The short film can be seen on television for the first time on November 22: in "Unser Sandmännchen" on rbb (5.40 pm), on KiKA (6.40 pm) and on MDR (6.40 pm).
