The second day of negotiations has begun in the VW collective bargaining round that began on Monday. After an overnight break, talks resumed this morning in Hanover, according to an IG Metall spokesperson. Negotiations had lasted 13 hours on Monday, with an overnight break only after midnight.
Around 70 representatives from the company and union are struggling to reach an agreement. Both sides want to try to reach an agreement before Christmas in marathon negotiations.
Volkswagen is demanding a ten percent pay cut due to the Group's difficult situation. Plant closures and compulsory redundancies are still on the table.
The IG Metall trade union is demanding the preservation of all sites and an employment guarantee for the approximately 130,000 employees. It rejects permanent cuts to monthly wages.
