Leipzig will once again attract numerous book lovers and literature enthusiasts in the coming days: The Leipzig Book Fair will be ceremonially opened on Wednesday evening (19:00). Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, among others, is expected to attend. The new director of the book fair had previously stated that the response from exhibitors was unbroken and slightly above the previous year's level. In 2023, 2082 exhibitors from 40 countries presented themselves in Leipzig. This year, the Netherlands and Flanders are presenting themselves as guest countries under the motto "Everything but flat". The guests are planning around 100 events with 41 authors.

Parallel to the trade fair, well-known authors and stars from the entertainment industry will be appearing at the "Leipzig Reads" festival. Among others, Marc-Uwe Kling, Ingrid Noll and Arne Dahl are expected in Leipzig. Actress Uschi Glas (80) will be presenting her memoirs, and her fellow actors Katja Riemann and Jörg Hartmann will also be at the book fair.
