For the construction of a so-called "hotspot for living and working" on the former site of the Saxon embroidery machine factory Kappel in Chemnitz, the company "Die Fabrik" is receiving funding of 200,000 euros from the state. Minister of State Thomas Schmidt (CDU) presented the decision to the initiators and project management, as announced by the Ministry for Regional Development.
The plan is to create 9,500 square meters of coworking spaces and offices, sports and leisure facilities, space for events, restaurants, conferences and apartments, among other things. The site in Chemnitz, which is often referred to as the tulle factory, is actually an industrial building from the 1880s.
"With a lot of courage, vision and, of course, money, something great is being created here in the heart of Chemnitz," said Schmidt. The site of the old factory is one of so many beautiful industrial wastelands in the country and is now making the leap into the modern age.
