Berlin's Governing Mayor and Senator for Education appear in public as a couple for the first time

Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner and his girlfriend, Senator for Education Katharina Günther-Wünsch (both CDU), are set to make their first public appearance as a couple at a major social event. They will be attending the Business Ball of the Berlin Merchants and Industrialists Association (VBKI) on Saturday. In an announcement by the organizers of the ball on Thursday, it said: "At 10 p.m., Kai Wegner (Governing Mayor of Berlin) and his partner Katharina Günther-Wünsch (Berlin Senator for Education, Youth and Family) will be available for a joint photo opportunity."

Wegner will attend the award ceremony before the ball, which begins at 19.00 p.m. and then later attend the big celebration with hundreds of guests and many celebrities at the Hotel Intercontinental near the zoo.

In January, Wegner and the Senator for Education announced via their lawyer that they had decided to enter into a relationship in the fall of 2023. They have not yet made any appearances as a couple at major festive occasions, although they did attend a Bundesliga match together.
